The End in Germany

Germany was the worst hit country by the great depression. However the man who ended the great depression in Germany was to eventually take Germany into another World War and back to economic chaos.

When Hitler the won the 1933 election it was a major turning point for the German economy. The Nazi program was designed to combat unemployment and at least it did that.

Hitler began massive spending to try and rebuild Germany. He built the autobahns all over Germany as well as rebuilding factories and German industry. More importantly he stated building tanks, warplanes and bullets as part of Germany’s rearming program. Hitler preparation for war led Germany out of the great depression and into the Nazi era.

However sometimes the unemployment figures are misleading for this period. Women were not counted as unemployed as the Nazi’s believed that they should stay at home to raise children. Also 100000 people were placed in concentration camps for opposing the Nazi regime before the war. Hitler also introduced conscription and encouraged people to join the German armed forces.
So perhaps Hitler did not really revive the economy, simple manipulated the unemployment figures in his favour by methods such as drafting people into the army as well as the other mentioned above.
